I am a Michigan based sculptor with a home-based studio. I utilize my fascination with the human form and botanical life to inspire ceramic sculpture that provides a visual and tactile exploration of the physical, biological, and sexual processes of life. Using seemingly contradictory images, I create a visual harmony which establishes a balance through opposition:  softness and hardness, burrowing in and bursting out, seduction and repulsion, ordinary and strange, maleness and femaleness. The sculptures are also about growth, energy, and seclusion. I am drawn to the mystery of exotic plants and deep-sea animals which are often hidden from our sight and are not easily accessible, but bring a sense of wonderment and disbelief because they feel familiar yet are foreign. The sculptures are fantasy.  The shapes can be body parts, animal imagery, or tiny seascapes, yet each microcosm has a bizarre twist and an element of make-believe.
